Jason founded the firm in September 2005, with a vision that we would become a one stop shop for Basildon business. Jason realised that there was a gap in the market for a firm in the local area to provide accountancy and business support in a down to earth and pro-active manner. Jason explains: “Having dealt with other accountancy firms in the past, I usually found that their approach to clients was a little aloof, and I felt that there was no need for it. Many accountants did not explain things in a clear way, using jargon that made clients uncomfortable. I also felt that accountants were not doing enough to understand their clients business and not doing enough to minimise their tax bills and offer pro active advice in other areas. My idea behind Dormer Finance Limited was to offer a service where all clients are treated the same regardless of size, all fees agreed and fixed in advance, and where all clients are treated individually and with respect. With additional services such as marketing and IT support, website design and creation and other associated services, I wanted to build a business where all clients business needs could be met within one firm” With the above in mind, after 20 years working in the city, Jason resigned from his job and set up Dormer Finance Ltd. Since then the firm has gone from strength to strength as it’s reputation has grown and the firm has generated exceptional referral rates. Jason is a member of The Institute of Financial Accountants, The Association of Taxation Technicians and an associate member of The Institute of Credit Management. Zöe Simpson – Director Zöe also worked with Jason in the city, and when it was apparent that Jason required strategic help with running the business Zöe was the first choice. Zöe has worked for several large city law firms and has a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and has studied for her CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Zöe had no hesitation in accepting the offer, explaining: “When Jason discussed his vision for the business and offered me the role, I said yes immediately. I knew that the vision was something that I wanted to be a part of and could see the potential. I felt that my business knowledge and experience would compliment Jason’s expertise in other areas, and while the role is challenging and demanding, it is enjoyable and rewarding to help grow the business whilst helping other businesses succeed” Rachel Field – Accountant Rachel joined the firm in February 2009 and was a key acquisition in our quest to employ quality staff to the mutual benefit of us and our clients. Jason explains: “Having interviewed many candidates, although several were obviously high calibre accountants, I didn’t feel that any were suitable for us. We felt that rather than choose the best of the bunch, we would rather wait and get it right. This decision proved to be the right one, as when Rachel came along we knew straight away that this was the obvious choice, giving us the right mix of professionalism, approachability and attention to detail, combined with a pragmatic approach to her work. Having seven years experience in practice, previously working for other Essex based accountants, Rachel has gained a wealth of experience working for Individuals, Partnerships and Limited Companies. Rachel is in the final stages of her ACCA exams with a view to being fully qualified by 2010. Laura Payne – Assistant Accountant and Bookkeeper Laura also joined us in February 2009. When she approached us asking for an opportunity there were no vacancies but we felt that Laura had all of the qualities that we require within our staff and so immediately created a role for her. Laura now assists with accounts preparation, VAT returns, bookkeeping and client inception. Laura is qualified with The Association of Accounting Technicians. Dean Vaughan – Web Developer and Designer Dean joined us in 2008 from the ITEC programme. He is currently in his second year of University, studying his (BSc) Honours Degree in Network Technology. Dean has proved to be a credit to ITEC and has gone from strength to strength whilst at Dormer Finance Ltd. Dean creates and builds high quality and innovative websites for our clients, some examples of which are shown below: http://www.seahorseuk.co.uk Dean was a finalist in the Essex Business Awards 2009 for the category “Apprentice of the year” and winner of the ITEC ‘Apprentice of the year’ in 2008. Anthony Allen – Designer and Administrator Anthony also joined us in 2008 from the ITEC programme and has also been a huge success whilst at Dormer Finance Limited. Anthony’s main area of expertise is designing logos and website design and creation, and he also assists with administration and general running of the office. Anthony often does the design work for Dean to build and create the websites and the two of them work as a team and compliment each others skills. |
